Job Search Hack #3

Your Network is your Fastest Route to Your Next Job

Informational conversations open doors — but first, you need to know who’s in your network. Here’s how to do it quickly:

👉 1. Quick Paper Mapping (Offline)

Take a big piece of paper, put yourself and your big career goal in the center, then spend 30 minutes drawing everyone who comes to mind:

  • Ex-colleagues

  • Current colleagues

  • Mentors

  • Family

  • Friends

  • People met at meetups or conferences

  • Alumni or classmates

✅ Gives a visual overview and sparks ideas for who to reach out to.

👉 2. LinkedIn Search & Filters (Online)

Use LinkedIn to find:

  • Alumni from your university

  • Former colleagues

  • People working at target companies
Filter by location, industry, or language skills to quickly spot connections.

✅ Helps you identify people you might have missed on paper.

👉 3. Networking Tools & Communities

Quickly expand your map using:

  • Meetup.com or Eventbrite for relevant events

  • Slack or Discord communities in your industry

  • Alumni groups or professional associations

✅ Shows you opportunities beyond your immediate circle.

💡 Step 2: Reach Out Strategically

✅ Ask about company culture, opportunities, and advice
✅ Share your career goals and explore referrals

📆 Step 3: Take Action

Schedule 2–3 chats this week and follow up. 🚀
